This is my first blog under quarantine from covid-19. Restaurants can still do takeout, and I found out today that my friends at Bontá were doing that, so I drove over there to help support them. I ordered goulash with späzle, a Hungarian beef stew with a German pasta (though Hungarians have something very similar). When I unpacked my order at home, I found that the Argentine chef had written “Good Appetite” in German on the paper lid. (They know that I'm German, and the chef's wife, who oversees operations at the restaurant, is from Austria.) The beef in the goulash was well trimmed and tender. The tangy sauce definitely had paprika in it, but I detected no vegetables other than onion. The späzle was toothsome and delicious with the paprika sauce. While this was not the very best goulash I've ever had, it's the first restaurant meal I've had since the quarantine began, and it was served with love.
