I love appetizer meals like the Middle Eastern Meze, Spanish Tapas, and Chinese Dim Sum. This was only my second real dim sum experience (the first was in Hong Kong a long time ago), but I was with a friend who knows dim sum, and he helped me order. We got steamed pork dumplings, shrimp dumplings, soup dumplings, shumai (which is a ground pork filling in a thin pasta-like wrapper), and bamboo sticky rice (rice wrapped in a bamboo leaf with sweet beans). All were delicious, but I think my favorite was the soup dumpling. You make sure it's not too hot, and then when you bite into it, soup squirts into your mouth. It's amazing! My friend ordered hot mustard, like they have in Japan, so we could spice up our soy sauce based dipping sauces.

Hello Chef Roland, it is so amusing how l managed to stumble upon your page nevertheless l am glad. Having to go through your page and getting exposed to various food cuisines is verry inspiring for me as l am one that quickly that gets her tongue tickling at the look at food. I strongly believe food can be a transporting agent for cultures and upon consumption of food regardless being in the set country otherwise. Flavors can sweep one off their feet and give an experience like never before, and l am glad in this post we get to see the incorporation of hot mustard like in Japan in a Chinese meal. It is remarkably interesting how adding a new flavor to a simple cuisine can take you to Japan from China in just split second. Greatly looking forward to trying out the foods in California you have tried and travel to various countries only by sense of taste. The experience is worth being pumped up for and hopefully with time l also get to tour the world just like you and get to have a sense of culture appreciation towards the country’s walls , making the experience worthwhile
