I ate this Jordanian dish at an Iraqi owned restaurant in El Cajon, California. There was lots of tender lamb that had been cooked in fermented dried yogurt, and it was served over long grain rice that had golden raisins and nuts in it. The dish was served with a large bowl of yogurt sauce on the side that was sour and savory and had a faint cheese taste to it. I usually don't eat a lot of meat in one sitting, but I kept dipping it into the bowl of sauce and ended up eating all of it. The lamb was nicely flavored with spices that almost certainly included clove, and the whole dish was served on top of a crisped up Middle Eastern flatbread that basically just worked as a bowl. I found out that this is considered the national dish of Jordan.

I'm happy to have shared a meal with you at this restaurant. You didn't mention that the owner of the Sahara had a restaurant in Baghdad with the same name.
